A powerful statement. What would strengthen this image is if the lady had a black eye. Then the reason for leaving would be obvious. A bit more light on the lady’s face would also strengthen it.

The message is clear and we understand the situation. The young child captures us with his attentive stare at the photographer, the pacifier a comforting bit of the scene.
The mother appears deep in thought. You might have brought exposure on her face up a bit to make her more ‘relevant ‘in the photo.

Excellent composition and framing with (presumably) mother and child. Exposure is good on child, but could be about ½ stop more light on mother. Easy fix with lightroom.
Good color rendition in all of photo.
Tells an interesting story with mood.
