Some seeds like madder, raceme, henna, oak, green shell of walnut,
lemon peel, panicle, indigo, pomegranate peel, maple, opoponax, vine
leaf, harrow, straw and onion peel, mostly found in tribal residence
are used as dyeing materials.
To
stabilize and expansion of raw materials colors, mordant
is used, of which the most famous element is "alum";
potash alum, whit vitriol and chrome vitriol are also applicable.
Sometime other materials such as oak leaf, turpentine leaf, lemon
peel, pomegranate peel, ... are
added to mordant.
Existence of iron in water or alum makes colors dark and unpleasant;
therefore, experienced women change the quantity of alum and sometime
they use rainwater or water with little salt.
