Way
of twisting piles
The
spun piles are twisted together for more resistance and for using warp
in woven objects. A simple tool called “Spindle” performs twisting
pile.
Spindle
Spindle
is a simple machine, made of wood, weighing about 200 gr. Each spindle
consists of the following parts:
1-Central
axis is a rod with 35 to 40 cm lengths. It is like rod of pareh, with
a knot at start and smooth up to the middle and thicker at the end,
not to exit the wheel from its axis.
2-
Wheel is made of wood. There's a hole at its middle, as wide as
diameter of the axis. Diameter of the wheel is approximately 10 cm,
with a thickness of 2-3 cm.
