European countries, where the people are interested in handicrafts,
specially different types of weaving. 75% of population live in cities
and only the occupation of 25% of them, who live in mountainous
regions, is animal husbandry and agriculture.
Because of animal husbandry being common in these regions, animal
products, such as wool, are satisfying.
Since 16th and 17th centuries carpet weaving has
been common among French people, who wove piled carpets. It should be
mentioned that French people knew these kinds of
carpets by Iranian artists.
Before carpet weaving, French people were familiar with kilim and
tapestry. French carpets are in small dimensions with woolen pile.
