Hazel is a visual artist, whose works are known for their originality, artistic beauty and dramatic impact. With a strong sense of colour and attention to composition, the images engage the viewer in creative exploration of the ideas expressed on the canvas. She is familiar with various mediums and enjoys creating works with impressionistic abstraction.

Her work developed under the skilful instruction and valued critique of a number of notable international artists. She is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and has successfully completed various courses of instruction offered by the Federation including, Painting Theory and Application, Theory and Creativity, and the Four-Year Foundation Program - with Distinction. This was followed by five years of intensive study under Alessandra Bitelli and Don Farrell in their informative class - A&D, where her creativity was stimulated and a unique personal style developed.

Her works have been successfully entered in many juried exhibitions, including the Surrey Art Gallery, where she placed in the top three in water-media, and the Federation of Canadian Artists, where she was honoured with an Award of Excellence. Hazel has participated in many solo and group shows and her art has been purchased by collectors from many parts of the world.

More recently, Hazel has expanded her image making skills with the digital camera. She is a member of the Crescent Beach Photography Club and has received an Honourable Mention ribbon from CAPA for one of her images. She has taken the CAPA Fit to Judge course and is frequently called upon to judge and critique images. Hazel enjoys sharing her experience, ideas and inspiration by teaching courses and workshops.
