Richard Shapka
North Vancouver, BC, Canada

Rick is interested in most things photographic, including making digital images and prints, both color and black and white. Rick earned photography and art history diplomas, at Focal Point and UBC in Vancouver. He spends his photographic time making landscape, wildlife, action, abstract, and HDR images.

With Rick’s love of digital photography, he has gone on to take master photographer workshops with accomplished photographers such as Freeman Patterson, André Gallant, Jay Maisel, Joe McNally and Tony Sweet to name a few.

Rick photographs both at home, and away while traveling. His most recent trips include the Palouse, Cranbrook BC for hummingbirds, and the North Shore of Lake Superior. For some time, Rick has wanted to photograph along Lake Superior. With the planning and work of CAPA District Rep, Dan Bryer, along with the camaraderie of the North Bay Photo Enthusiasts, the wish became a reality.

He is an active CAPA certified judge, and is a former member of CAPA executive. Rick is a member of the North Shore Photographic Society, and West Vancouver Seniors Photography Club.
