Many factors influence
the form of industrial products, whether produced in
batch or mass production. These factors include the
technology of production, economic and investment
potential in production, people's standard of living
and the lifestyle of end users, society's attitudes
and values, and the legal and political policies.
In the second half of the twentieth century, artistic
movements and styles also influenced the processes and
the final form of products. National attitudes and
cultures also pay a role in the product's final form.
Towards the end of twentieth century, the trend was
toward batch production, based on individual
customer's aims. This trend will continue in the new
century, based on advanced production technology, the
information revolution and multinational products.
