Shokouh
Riazi
Born in Tehran, 1921; deceased in Tehran, 1962
She left her medical education and she graduates from
Tehran University, Fine Arts Faculty, in 1946.
She received her degree from the Beaux Arts, with
commendation and a gold medal.
Shokouh Riazi taught at Decorative Arts Faculty for 2
years and she trained many outstanding students.
Shokouh has participated in a few local and international
exhibitions.
Due to her preoccupation with teaching, her
love for training and her early death, she has left few
works. The sketches and a few paintings and sculptures,
left fro her, attest her trained and disciplined
perception. But, what distinguishes her as an influencing
pioneer artist in the contemporary Iranian art scene is
her teaching methods, which showed her students how to
look at the world with critical and discovering view. Many
of her students are the well-known artists of today, who
consider their success as a result of her directions.
