Title: Green Entrances to the World

Jurors Scores Critiques
Satya Danu 5 The title is causing me to be baffled. The 'world' to me is a large, open space-everything that exists. How can I enter through the window? And the door would probably fall onto me, because it does not seem to be hinged to the wall.

Both, the green door and green window frame are pleasing to look at. However, how can we make this image work? Half a lamp needs to go; the painting in the window wants more light and vibrancy. The red on the wall is overpowering – wanting most of the attention.

In order to eliminate that part we need to do some 'serious' layer work in Photoshop. Even then it will be difficult to match the old style gray wall. So, I compromised by toning down the red. It still does not make an image fit for competition, though. Simplicity speaks the best!!!

Richard Shapka 5 Very nice color contrast, and focus. Subject matter of window is the most interesting feature. Excellent tonal range.
Composition is weak, with door cut off of right side of image and exterior light cut off on top.

Suggest that the image-maker move back and forth to see what is in the camera viewfinder and frame. Easily improved by using a tripod, composing the image, then stepping away from the tripod to see the whole of the image, then recomposing.

Larry Breitkreutz 7 Photographer did well to keep the vertical lines in the image parallel to the side of the frame. The right side of the door is barely touching the edge of the frame. The photo would be stronger if the door were either deliberately cut into, or had more space beside it.
