The Getty Center is located in the foothills of Santa Monica Mountains, overlooking Los Angeles, California with spectacular views.

The Center includes several buildings, such as five museum pavilions, research institute with 80,000 volume collection, auditorium and gardens.

The Art collection cover ancient art, paintings, drawings, sculpture, photographs, illustrated manuscripts, decorative arts and more. Those are grouped in three periods:

1- Prior to 1600
2- 1600 to 1800
3- After 1800

Among the museum buildings, there are beautiful gardens with variety of native and important plants. Two special attractions are the fountains and the central garden with its maze of azaleas.

The spacious buildings were designed by Richard Meier. Sixteen thousand (16000) tons of Travertine stone were imported from Italy to cover building's exterior.

The center is open throughout the year, except on Mondays and holidays. It includes facilities for children and people with disabilities; also different tours for visitors.
