The
handsome building of Gorgan Museum, located on the West of the
cemetery of Gorgan, was completed in 1976. It consists of two
floors, a basement and a courtyard, and is distinguished by the
semi-circular vaults on its façade.
First floor of museum is allocated to archeological items excavated
in "Turan Tappeh”, Nur, Behshahr and Gorgan.
Basement floor houses ethnological artifacts. Ancient Tombstones and
Stone Inscriptions are also exhibited here.
The major part of Museum's collections range from the prehistory to
the present.
