Youssef Ali-khani

Iranian Writer & Journalist
Youssef Ali-khani was born in 1975 in a village called Milak, which is located in the vicinity of Roodbaar and Alamoot of Qazvin. He is a graduate of Arabic language from Tehran University.

His first stories were published between 1995 and 1996 in the local weeklies of Qazvin. He began interviewing a number of writers and parts of these interviews were published by Markaz Publication in 2001, under the title of “The Third Generation of Fiction Writing Today”. He also did a detailed research on the story “Aziz and Negaar”, which was published by Qoqnoos Publication in 2002. A collection of Ali-khani’s short stories was published in 2003, by Ofoq Publication under the title of “Ghadam-bekhier Madar-bozorg e man Bood” which was critically acclaimed.

For 4 years Youssef had been a translator for Arabic TV channels and Entekhaab newspaper. He also has been an editor for Kish Fardaa magazine and the literary pages of Jaam-e-Jam newspaper.

He has also interviewed a number of Iranian fiction writers living out of Iran; these interviews are available at He currently runs an electronic literary magazine called “Ghabil”, which is dedicated to short stories, poems, book reviews and interviews. This literary magazine is available at 

A novel as well as a long short story and a couple of stories for teenagers by this author will be published in 2004.

He lives with his wife, Iranna, and his daughter, Saina, in Tehran.
