Kilim of Lor (Lur) Tribes
|
Kilim: Iran |
Lors are of few tribal groups, which have lived in their native
lands since three thousand years and are recognized as pure Iranian people like
Kurd.
We have limited information about their history but they have a very long precedence in
handicrafts specially kilim weaving. Many Qashqai kilims have been Lor in fact.
Lors have not adopted all their designs from Qashqais hand made but Qashqais were
under influence of Lors so that most of pile fully carpets and hand woven are assumed as
Lors art.
Their designs are quite different than other Turkish (and other kilims) designs. Their
textiles are much coarser and spun rather loose, but seem thicker, while touching.
