Iran: Iran Bastan Museum

Cast pitcher, flat bottom, convex body, elongated neck, flaring rim

7-8th century AD
Height: 12.7 cm (5.08 in)
Rim diameter: 7 cm (2.8 in)
Base diameter: 5.8 cm (2.35 in)

Decoration: Vertical parallel grooves on the neck. Geometrical decoration, comprising two rows of irregular pentagons flanking a row of lozenges, on shoulder and body. The prolongations of lozenges extended as vertical lines reaching almost the bottom of vessel.

Patina: Coalesced wart-like corrosion and glossy black patches. Un-corroded parts display the original brilliance of the object.
