Underground
Water Reservoir
These structures are usually located in the center
of the city neighborhoods and made up of four main parts:
1-A reservoir, which is cylindrically shaped and below the
ground surface. The water, coming from underground canals,
pours into this reservoir;
2-A dome built over
the reservoir, which keeps the water cool;
3-
Pasheer, the platform, which is used for taking water from
the reservoir;
4- Badgir, a weathering shaft for bringing in the air
current in order to protect the water from spoiling.
