The construction of Citadel gate of
Semnan City (Arq), which continued the gate of the governmental
Citadel of Damqan, was commissioned by "Anoushirvan Mirza
Zia-oddoleh", the governor of county "Qomes", during
the reign of Qajar dynasty, Nassereddin Shah.
According to Northern and Southern inscriptions of the building, its
construction was completed in 1884-85.
Tile-work decoration of this gate includes a scene of the fight
between "Rostam" and "White Div", and also
portraits of thy Qajar military commanders.
Inscriptions of the gate were written by "Seyed Baqer Tabatabai
Semnani", famous calligrapher of Qajar period.
