Green Dome (Gonbad Sabz)
This is a brick structure in Khaki St., in the center of
Gonbad Sabz Square. The reason for its name is its
greenish turquoise colored dome.
The construction is on a square land. It contains thick
square pillars and 4 terraces, internally and externally,
four sides each with a terrace with entrances in the end
of each terrace.
On each corner, a small terrace, in two floors and shallow
is constructed. As well as these, the composition of the
shape and body of dome has provided attractive sight.
Inside the dome is decorated with cornices going around.
Walls are decorated with mosaic tiles, in the form of
arches and frames.
Designs, which are inspired from Safavid art, consist of
geometrical, floral, leaves, Sun and Arabesque.
The construction is known as the tomb of "Mohammad
Momen", 14th century scholar and physician. It was
built in 1671 AD and became Mystic Monastery.
