Church of San Augustine and Queretaro Art Museum
Church and Monastery of San Augustine
These structures from the first half of 18th century,
exemplify neo-Hispanic baroque.
The church's three section front displays the fine and
venerated sculpture Christ of Portal, and six saints in
their niches.
The unfinished tower and cupola dedicated to Mary, also
contain sculptures.
The amazing quadrangular cloister has a richly carved
fountain in the middle, bordered by lavishly ornamented
arches that lead to spacious galleries, containing
peculiar figures and elements that appear to be engaged in
symbolic dialog.
Since 1988, this complex houses Queretaro
Art Museum that has magnificent collection
of art from Viceroy period.
