Church of San Francisco and Regional Museum of Queretaro
Church and ex-Monastery
The construction of these, the city's first religious
building, was carried out from 1540 to 1727.
The church's stone entrance way stands out from the
structure's smooth white finish and its robust tower is
the highest in the city.
On the inside, there are eleven alter pieces carved in
stone, two chapels, sculptures and other noteworthy
pieces.
The Ex-Monastery, now on extraordinary Regional
Museum, has serene majestic cloisters,
where valuable historical pieces are on display.
The permanent exhibition galleries are dedicated to
archaeology, ethnography, the viceroy period, Mexican
Independence and 19th century Quererato, narrating some of
the nation's most important historical stages.
