January through March
The Gardens in winter never truly sleep. Snowdrops and
crocuses awaken, forming a pretty carpet of blooms. Winter
flowering trees and shrubs dot the grounds as spring
approaches. The Gardens is the only destination for a
truly romantic Valentine's Dinner.
April through May
Springs come early on Vancouver Island and this season is
like a breath of fresh air. Gardeners plant over 100,000
tulip bulbs and their dazzling splendor greets visitors
with rivers of color, a sight to behold in the warm spring
sunshine. Visit Garden from March 15th through May 31st
for unique "Spring Color Spectacular"
demonstrations and seminars. Lavish Mother's Day Brunch
and Victoria Day Tea are also May highlights.
June through September 15
Summer is absolutely splendid at The Gardens. Glorious
blooms are at their peak and visit at this time of the
year transcends the ordinary.
Enjoy daily entertainment (beginning June 15) in outdoor
theatre and piazza and every evening experience night
illuminations as thousands of hidden lights transform the
landscape; also Father's Day Brunch!
Fantastic Fireworks light up the summer sky Saturday
nights from July 3 to September 4.
September 16 through November
Autumn's Golden glory is a sight to behold during Autumn
Cascade of Colors. You'll love The Gardens at this time of
the year. Shafts of sunlight are concentrated and rich,
colors jewel-toned and poignant, The Gardens tranquil and
welcoming. The Japanese Garden is resplendent with blazing
maples and trickling streams and ponds make for
wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. Visit The Gardens in
November to watch preparations for the festive season
unfold. Butchartians do love the holiday season and
"Christmas in Coming" lets them celebrate early;
also with special seminars, tours and gourmet dinners.
December 1 through January 6
Holiday magic weaves a spell during "Christmastime".
By night, The Gardens are a magical sight as a lavish
display of lights illuminates the sky. Streaming blue
waterfall of lights transforms the darkness as it rushes
into a quiet lake. Listen to traditional carolers and the
festive brass, browse through the freshly-stocked shelves
of wonderful gift store and enjoy a superb festive dinner
with all trimmings. Rare dusting of sow may enhance the
scene but more often than not, the mild Vancouver Island
winter allows the greenery to thrive and the visitor to
liger.
