Reza Mafi was born
in Meshed (Khorasan), 1943.
First, he learned calligraphy in Edezadi school.
Mafi came to Tehran in 1958. From 1964, he went to
calligraphy courses, in Hossein Mirkhani school.
He was one of the first students that finished the
four-year period of calligraphy courses in three
years brilliantly.
He was greatly influenced by Mirza Qolam-Reza
Isfahani's method. This master was one of the
greatest calligraphers of 19th century. Reza Mafi
continued to work in the same style, until the end
of his life.
Reza Mafi deceased on September 26, 1982.
